TONY PANIGHETTI
Professional Bios
Tony began as a teaching assistant for the summer programs
of California Theater Center and the Los Gatos Recreation Department's
conservatory at Villa Montalvo. At 19, he taught a spring comedy class for San
Jose Children's Musical Theater and he accepted a position in their summer
program, COPA, as a "Junior Talents" and "Rising Stars"
instructor. After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los
Angeles, Tony began circulating as a substitute teacher for South Coast
Repertory in Costa Mesa and later taught a winter course of his own. He then
returned to the Bay Area in '99 to direct SJCMT's spring school outreach
production and his following three summers were spent with COPA as a teacher
for the "Rising Stars" and the "Mainstage" students. Tony
also functions as a relief-acting teacher for the students of Dance Attack in
Cupertino.
After graduating from the two year training program of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Tony went on to perform with the college company as one of its nine members. He was voted as a member into the Pasadena Shakespeare Company where he performed in Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and King Lear. He was also voted into downtown Hollywood's NonProphet Hatching Company where his own play, The Noise, made its blackbox world premiere. Tony performed with PCPA Theaterfest in The Who's Tommy, as Bud Frump in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and as Mozart in Amadeus for which he received a Backstage West Garland performance award. He then returned to the Bay Area to perform with Theater On San Pedro Square in: Romeo and Juliet, Forever Plaid, and the eleventh month west coast premiere of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Tony recently finished playing Jerry and Daphne in Cabrillo Stage's Some Like It Hot and he can occassionally be seen in a national commercial for Natrol Vitamins.
