Tribute to my Muses
So many people have influenced my life and inspired my works that there
is no way to list them all. Likewise, it is impossible to put them in a "right" order on this page to truly represent
my love and appreciation for each of them. Imagine them a circle, with no beginning and no end. Here I honor many
of my Muses:

Tony Panighetti ~ Muse of my Soul
I dedicate this site to my son, Tony, who was born much wiser than I.
He has taught me many lessons about life, people and even myself. Tony is a successful stage actor, teacher, and playwright.
As you can tell, I am very proud of him. Thank you, Tony, for being my muse! I love you dearly.

Carol Lorraine ~ Muse of Creativity
Carol Lorraine opened to me a world of creative expression the value of
which I could never measure or express. Through her guidance, workshops, influence and friendship, I realized the value
of my own creative gifts. Thank you for everything amazing, magical and wonderful that you have provided so many of
us, Carol Lorraine. You are truly my mentor.

Nancy Hall ~ Muse of Musical Expression
Nancy is probably the most naturally talented musician and artist I have
ever met. As a teacher, she has the ability to lead people to release their musical gifts, even those people who didn't
realize they have them. She does this in a fashion that is modest, kind and nurturing. I
am so proud and flattered that you consider me your friend, Nancy.

Laura Strom ~ Muse of Goddess Power
Laura Strom saved my life! I'm humbled by what she has done for me.
I only hope I can find a way to repay that somehow. I fear I have not done a good job at that. Laura guides each
of us to release our Goddess within. She's led many to realize their power as women, including me. Laura,
you take my breath away.

Peggy Black ~ Muse of Sacred Sound
Peggy has shown me how sound can be healing. A sweet, loving, beautiful
woman, Peggy gives of herself, through sound, to help others heal. As a spirit, I have benefited from her gifts.
As a vocalist, I have learned from her example. Peggy, you teach me to accept and honor the gifts that have been given
me, in good faith, by the universe.

Char Ford ~ Muse of the Great Spirit
Char would never refer to herself as a Shaman, although most who know her
do. So many honor her power and light in this world and recognize her for spiritual leadership. I have been most
honored to have known her as a friend and sister. Char, you may never know the impact you have had on my life, but please
know that it is there and it is wonderful.

Tana Marie ~ Muse of Love and Relationship
One of my oldest and dearest friends, Tana Marie has always impressed me
with her poise and confidence. She has always been a role model to me showing grace and maturity in every situation.
You are family, Tana, and I miss you. I am very proud of what you have accomplished -- author, lecturer, counselor,
radio personality, and so much more.

Spirited Sharing ~ Muses of the Monkey
Manifesto
Several of the strongest, most intelligent, sharpest-witted women I have ever met I actually have never
met in real life. The Goddesses of "Spirited Sharing" chat have challenged my mind, spirit and honed my wit to its finest
edge. Kate (my sister), Perri, Eco, Freya, Sassy, BL, DM, Uni (Oh! I actually met Uni!), Skybie, Tera, Crys, Lynx, Domi,
Noah, and so many more -- thank you from the heart of my bottom for the years (can you believe it) of sistership in cyberspace.
Your input to my creativity chats is invaluable to me. Love, Light and Laughter to you all!

Rhiannon ~ Muse of Jazz Improvisation
Rhiannon literally reached into the air and pulled my voice out from where
I was hiding it. Through her singing circles, workshops, and her amazing example, I've learned to strive for what is
mine -- the art of my own voice. Rhiannon, you glow, you inspire,
and you guide so many of us by your mastery. Thank you!

Bruce Williams ~ Muse of da Blues
Bruce and I grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same
schools but did not really get to know each other until recently. Even with the miles between us, Bruce, with his mild-manner
and life experience, has inspired in me an opening of my musical creativity. Bruce, my new activities in music arrangement
and lyric writing are due to your influence. May we always be friends.

Barbara Valladares ~ Muse of Beauty
Bella! You've embraced me from the beginning with no judgement other
than to love who and what I am at any point in time. You give so much love to all your friends with such generosity
and ease. I wish I was there to support you in all that you do. I am with you always in spirit. You are
in my thoughts every day.

Joseph Steven Valencia ~ Muse of Self-Actualization
Joseph is a master of creative visualization, even though I don't think
he's conscious of that. That is how it should be, for a master, in my opinion. Joseph, you are my mentor in being
in tune with this universe. You are also a master of "silly" which I think is the healthiest way to be. You always
keep me in my silly place, Joseph, and I love you for that.

Three Godesses who are responsible every year for what I call "Seven days of music heaven -- swingin'
in the trees!" -- Jazz Camp West. You have created something unique in this world and so many, like me, treasure this
experience -- this family. Thank you, Stacey, Madeline, and Mary, for all the gifts you provide for the rest of us.

John Santos ~ Muse of Sacred Rhythms
Whenever I mention the name "John Santos" to my percussionist friends,
they take a breath in awesome respect. I am not primarily a percussionist but I love the "spirit" of percussion -- how
it honors our connection with nature and the earth. I have had the honor of taking classes from John, master percussionist
and my muse of what is sacred about rhythm. I hope he won't mind me saying that he is one of the sweetest people one
could ever meet. Thank you for the honor, John.

Jovino Santos Neto ~ Muse of Dancing While
Seated
The following lyric is in creation by Joyful Muse (a.k.a., Janet Panighetti)
to honor Jovino Santos Neto, the man who can dance while sitting down. Jovino's magic as a pianist and flautist never
ceases to amaze me. He exudes a joy of life and art that is contagious. Enjoy this lyric to the music
"July 17" from Jovino's "Serenata" album:
Jovino dances while he plays his muse. His feet, they fly as if on
magic wings and so do I. He carries me with him with his rhythm as if I, too, have magic wings.
He brings out my dance. He brings out my song. His feet don't merely dance. Jovino's feet, they fairly sing!

Keith Terry ~ Muse of Body Music
I had so much fun in Keith's class last summer at Jazz Camp West that I took it twice! Everything
I ever learned about dance, movement and voice has been brought together into one joyous art. Syncopation, counterpoint,
odd meter -- all the things that I love about music and rhythm I have learned to channel through my body as an instrument.
Keith, I can't wait to work with you again!

Jazz Campers West ~ Muses who Swing in
the Trees
Through the last several years, you have been a big part of my Summer Solstice
celebration, my growth as a musician and my life. With you all I find friendship, fun, and catharsis. I couldn't
possibly name all here who have touched my life. I will work on that in my next update. *giggle* I consider you
all my extended family. Love, celebration, and all that Jazz!!!!

Robert Gordon Plymale ~ Muse of Ice Cream Sundaes
Robert opened my eyes to my mind. He has taught me not only that
I have opinions but that I have a right and even a responsibility to have and express them. Bob, you taught me to always
know what my position is on any issue and to be able to support that. You also taught me about "truths" and how powerful
those are. Our paths have parted but you will forever be in my heart. You have been my "Ice Cream Sundae" relationship.
Thank you!
